Internet sourced pictures.

It's long been a topic of discussion as to whether it's right or wrong to download adult pictures from the internet to your own collection for example. It's my opinion that if you (or the picture taker) have posted ANYTHING on the internet,it's now in the public domain. Therefore you lay yourself wide open to having your picture 'nicked' and can't really complain. On the other hand for example, you may have let your husband take some saucy pictures of you in the past, but now you've split up he has posted the pictures on the internet out of spite it's a different story, but the downloader is not to know that. This could of course work the other way round too.
The pictures I took of my wife,I posted on 'Adultism' about 3/4 years ago. Before I knew it they had been 'borrowed' by quite a few other sites too. I was mortified. I thought they would be quite safe on Adultism and wouldn't go any further. The chances of anyone she knew seeing them were extremely remote. Of course the more sites that use them.the more chance there is of someone we know seeing them. Nobody has said anything - yet. But they probably wouldn't,as they would be questioned about 'why you were looking at porn'. A potentially difficult issue indeed.

I find the best course of action, frequently, is to add a "watermark" to the image in such a way that nobody could use your material without others being able to see the "watermark". If you put it in the corner, it can be cropped out. Make it subtle but noticable and across the whole image.

From my perspective I suppose I would never post anything explicit where I could be identified any sauces pics would not include my face or identifiable surroundings

I never ever post my face in pics and in some cases I even 'shop out my moles.
I have thought about watermarking them but meh who cares really. If someone takes my image and decides to use it to pretend its them or for whatever reason then to be honest Im gonna be flattered not offended LOL

I agree. Any images of myself that I would consider posting of myself would not include my face so as to avoid the whole identification issue. And like Pink said, if anyone uses my images as their own, Id be pretty chuffed that anyone would wanna look like me.

My watermark suggestion is really to prevent unacceptable copying and nothing to do with removing identification.

My personal belief is that you should always be very cautious about what you share, but that which you do share should be shared with reckless abandon.

RE: Internet sourced pictures.

The best thing to do if YOU have taken the photo is too edit the metadata before posting any images on the web, this info will include all camera information such as the lens used, f-stop number, focal length, camera type, plus any other info you wish too include... or if you have a dslr take your photos in RAW format (digital version of a negative) be warned RAW files are HUGE! if you have RAW file then theres no dout that the photo belongs to you and only you... i always shoot in RAW but my hobby is photography..

Yes its very easy to take photos from the net, but the law is clear about downloading images that dont belong too you.. Not that any thing would happen as such, unless the photographer saw his image being used else where (this happened to me) he/she will take legal action.

I had a flikr account where i posted my images (i no longer use this) and i done a reverse pic search of my images and found a charity using one of my photos without my permission. To cut the story short i let them use the image under license... I want to show and display my images but having them being used with out my permission really puts me off..
