RE: Secret Teenage Crushes - Unexpected Reencounters

I seem to remember most of my crushes being on girls in the same year as me, probably because you naturally get to know your own year group better than the others.
I remember being laughed at by a girl I asked out in my first year at high school, and then going out with her for a while some seventeen years later. It didn't end well! We had some great chats about life since high school but had nothing in common whatsoever.

I had a crush on a boy in my year who ended up being flatmates with KD when at University (kind of how we met). Crush has long diminished, he's quite a good friend of ours now.

Also.. there were a few teachers Big Grin

It would be interesting to know how many of the encounters to which we are referring have ended up in a lasting relationship being formed, compared to those which ended like mine and BBWL.
For example wasn't Friends Reunited' blamed for lots of divorces many years ago? I wonder how long most of those relationships lasted, once one of the couple realised that his/her partner wasn't that 'cool kid' who was so fanciable in high school.
Turn a different corner etc.

I find the "turn a different corner" theory fascinating .( Thanks George for a truly awesome song! )

School is a minefield of bubbling teenage hormones and most of us probably look back with rose tinted glasses. So to bump into an old flame/crush and wonder "what if?" is highly appealing, especially if your life is going through a particular boring phase. Who wouldn't be tempted? But a lasting relationship?

In my experience, these encounters are best left in the past as enjoyable memories and a flirtatious ego boost - who doesn't need that from time to time?Big Grin

I do believe whole heartedly in fate!

Wise words Lady L.
I say 'wise words' as my most obvious example of meeting and sort of dating a teenage crush ended with us not even staying friends!
I would say it was good while it lasted but in this case, it wasn't!
I'm now happily married and I believe that she is too.
I'm married to a beautiful woman whom I met through work but I have no idea as to who my teenage crush married.
Fate is indeed a powerful force methinks.
